We get sensational feedback from guests staying at Vixen Tor Farm, and here are some of the lovely testimonials written in our guestbook about their holiday on Dartmoor… if you are looking for a holiday cottage somewhere special in Devon for a mini-break or longer, then this is the place for you.
We had a magical weekend away celebrating our fourth Valentine’s together. Perfect little getaway just before the arrival of our second baby! This place really is food for the soul. We ended up spending an extra night here due to the van getting stuck in the mud and us not being able to get it out 🙂 Looking forward to coming again during the summer!

This stay is just [what] we needed! Away from the city embraced in beautiful nature. The barns are so lovely and warm, it was hard to leave 🙂 Thanks.

My mother and I were looking for a peaceful getaway from Cambridge and WOW did Vixen Tor Farm deliver! We loved it so much we even extended our stay 🙂 Such a perfect little place to disconnect, cozy up by the fire and of course spend some time in nature. The property is nothing short of magical! I already can’t wait to return and bring my husband. Thank you James and Naomi for a lovely stay and for making us feel so welcome!

We love it here so much that this is our second trip to Vixen Tor. Just re-read our first entry right at the start of this book and feel exactly the same. We had a magical 5 nights here and just didn’t want to leave – Naomi was very helpful and allowed us to keep adding nights on to our stay! The walks were amazing and roast dinner at the Peter Tavy is a must. It was the perfect break as 2 NHS workers needing to check out of busy life for a while. Naomi & James even allowed us NHS discount which was very appreciated!
We woke up to snow one morning and the barn was very cosy! Last time we were here was in March – we aim to see all seasons and will be returning again! Neil the gardener recommends bluebell season so hopefully be back around then for a third time!

What a wonderful place! The barns are so beautiful and cosy, and the woods and moor are just gorgeous and we were able to enjoy beautiful walks so close to the door that even the 2-year old could manage it. James and Naomi have been so kind and thoughtful and we have been made so welcome – thank you so much for a wonderful holiday.
I felt so welcome when I arrived I enjoyed the games and I had so much fun (guests’ daughter, aged 8)

A lovely stay with the cosy fire and underfloor heating much appreciated as the weather rolled into autumn and we had plenty of rain spells! We enjoyed our walk to Pew Tor from the door and also a lovely meal at the Inn. Thanks for everything!

This place is wonderful. Wild swimming in the pool, evenings by the fire and incredible walks. We love the [drinking] water and want you to sell it! When the apocolypse hits this is where I’m headed! Incredible to hear an actual stag mating call if not completely terrifying. Thank you for making us feel welcome.
(Winchester, UK – October 2020)
What a lovely place to stay! So peaceful and quiet and surrounded by beautiful walks.
(London, UK – October 2020)
Such a magical place, it’s like entering a mythical world when you drive down the track to get here. We visited the beautiful Bellever Forest and Drogo Castle, albeit an hours drive away – both beautiful walking trails and worth a visit!
(London, UK – October 2020)
A nice refreshing get away, so quiet and peaceful! We enjoyed looking at the various wildlife around all the walks.
(Southampton, UK – October 2020)
A perfect little getaway! Great walks, great accommodation, great tranquility and a handy local pub! Thank you 🙂
(Weston-super-Mare, UK – September 2020)
The perfect place for an isolated honeymoon: provided all the peace, mystery and wonder we had hoped for. We wrote poems, sang songs and explored, a genuine retreat from our day to day. Many thanks!
(Southampton, UK – September 2020)
A truly magical location and a charming property…. a perfect choice in the current climate! We recommend a visit to Buckland Abbey and Lydford Gorge. The fresh air and outdoor space has been a real tonic, thank you!
(Surrey, UK – September 2020)
Wonderfully secluded, wildlife and fire pits, wine, walks and best friends being silly. The barns themselves are immaculate, highly recommended. James is lovely and helpful. We will definitely return for more star gazing, deer ogling and rock climbing.
(Trowbridge, UK – September 2020)
Wow, what a magical place. We’ve been trapped in a little flat in London and forgot there was a whole world out there! What an incredible reminder. Such a beautiful house and surroundings. We will be back – also glad the witch didn’t get us!

What a stunning barn set in a beautiful location. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here – both walking locally, exploring further afield and spending rainy days playing cards and dominoes as a family. We LOVED Pew Tor. James is so welcoming – we felt part of the family. Thank you.

Thank you for an amazing stay at this beautiful location. It is the optimum place to be and despite the bad weather it was a remember-able exciting experience. This outstanding holiday gave us all a buzz and its solitude and beauty was alluring. We were able to swim in the streams and go on luscious walks so we thank you for the opportunity.

Thank you for a lovely stay in a beautiful location. We didn’t explore the local area as much as we’d have liked because there was so much to do and see but it was fun walking down to the river and playing ping pong.
We loved this house so much! It was always so cosy and we have been very happy with it. It was amazing to drive up the path and see all the sheep and ponies! The house is in such a lovely place – I love Devon – with access to the moors and some amazing beaches. We would love to come here again as we had such a wonderful holiday!
I have had a lovely time in this house and the environment. Thank you.

A perfect spot for lockdown-easing escape. We loved the access to the moor and comfort of the sofas. Thank you.

What a beautiful barn! Fab walk to Merrivale in sunshine. Thanks to Naomi and James.

We had a lovely stay here. Beautiful location with the Vixen Tor behind us, and the path through the mossy woods. Dartmoor is a great place to walk and enjoy the views.

What an honour to be your first ever guests. The barn is an amazing and beautiful place to stay in a truly epic surrounding. We enjoyed our walks and discovering the local area. Roasting marshmallows on an open fire was the end to a perfect stay. We will hopefully be back to stay again.
