We had a magical weekend away celebrating our fourth Valentine’s together.  Perfect little getaway just before the arrival of our second baby!  This place really is food for the soul.  We ended up spending an extra night here due to the van getting stuck in the mud and us not being able to get it out 🙂  Looking forward to coming again during the summer!

My mother and I were looking for a peaceful getaway from Cambridge and WOW did Vixen Tor Farm deliver!  We loved it so much we even extended our stay 🙂  Such a perfect little place to disconnect, cozy up by the fire and of course spend some time in nature.  The property is nothing short of magical!  I already can’t wait to return and bring my husband.  Thank you James and Naomi for a lovely stay and for making us feel so welcome!

We love it here so much that this is our second trip to Vixen Tor.  Just re-read our first entry right at the start of this book and feel exactly the same.  We had a magical 5 nights here and just didn’t want to leave – Naomi was very helpful and allowed us to keep adding nights on to our stay!  The walks were amazing and roast dinner at the Peter Tavy is a must.  It was the perfect break as 2 NHS workers needing to check out of busy life for a while.  Naomi & James even allowed us NHS discount which was very appreciated!

We woke up to snow one morning and the barn was very cosy!  Last time we were here was in March – we aim to see all seasons and will be returning again!  Neil the gardener recommends bluebell season so hopefully be back around then for a third time!

What a wonderful place!  The barns are so beautiful and cosy, and the woods and moor are just gorgeous and we were able to enjoy beautiful walks so close to the door that even the 2-year old could manage it.  James and Naomi have been so kind and thoughtful and we have been made so welcome – thank you so much for a wonderful holiday.

Thank you for a lovely stay in a beautiful location.  We didn’t explore the local area as much as we’d have liked because there was so much to do and see but it was fun walking down to the river and playing ping pong.

We loved this house so much!  It was always so cosy and we have been very happy with it.  It was amazing to drive up the path and see all the sheep and ponies!  The house is in such a lovely place – I love Devon – with access to the moors and some amazing beaches.  We would love to come here again as we had such a wonderful holiday!

We had a lovely stay here.  Beautiful location with the Vixen Tor behind us, and the path through the mossy woods.  Dartmoor is a great place to walk and enjoy the views.

Wow! Just a lovely four days.  Two really long 5 or 6 hour walks and then home for food and wine.  Saw snipe, a sparrowhawk, and an owl in the woods below.  Great space, cozy and warm.  Oh and a buzzard flew off in a valley straight below our feet.  Luckily it had just finished picking the bones clean of the bird it had killed. Despite some VERY wild and wet weather we had a great stay.  With the fire lit, the lamps low and a family DVD on this is the perfect place to wait out a storm!  Tips for trips: Widecombe-in-the-Moor,  the Cornish Arms in Tavistock, Country Cheeses (Tavistock) and we’re just off to find the standing stones of Merrivale before heading home!

This is such a beautiful spot, lovely to see the wildlife and hear nothing but the wind in the trees and rushing water.  The barns are nice and cozy, lovely to come back to after a day on the Moor.  Wish we could stay longer!

Each day – surprises – a dip in the river near the bothy, a meeting with Symi in the woods – walking to Cox Tor, and following the Walkham [river] back; finding the bridlepath from Sampford Spiney to Merrivale… and sitting outside the door considering the majesty of creation and its creator! The Barn is cosy and comfortably accommodated our family of 4.  We had a lovely barbecue in the front garden, which was big enough for everyone to eat and play games of football and cricket.  The bathroom facilities were of a high standard as well; you can shower or have a nice hot bath.  In the event of a rainy day (which is not unlikely in Tavistock) there is a whole host of board games to keep everyone occupied.  There is also a table tennis table which provides lots of fun as well.  Overall we had a fantastic time and strongly recommend this place to others 🙂

A wonderful location, the barn has a warm and welcoming feel.  There were a couple of queries when we checked in, but Naomi could not have been more accommodating in sorting those, thereafter we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.  The digital detox worked well, even for our sometimes moody teenager!  We would definitely recommend this to friends and come hope to come again.

What a beautiful, beautiful spot you have here.  We all grew up in Tavistock and wanted to bring our best friend Sophie here for her hen gathering.  We filled the barn with love and sparkle and had the best time together.  The surroundings are so peaceful and stunning.  Naomi – you were amazing from day one.  Thank you for all your help, advice and recommendations.  We had a lovely lady from Neal’s Yard in Tavistock come and give us all a much needed treatment in the summer house.  Just wow!  Vixen Tor – you will be forever in our memories as a special space, wish we could have stayed longer.  We’ll be back.

Sat on the doorstep writing this, surrounded by beautiful hills and the sound of the stream, birds and wind in the trees.  This holiday has really been one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had.  For the whole 5 days, we’ve felt rested, at peace and very grateful to be able to stay in such a tranquil, comfortable, warm place.  The walks around the area have been great – especially walking Vixen Tor at dusk and the Sampford Spiney walk, extended up to the tunnel and stone circles was beautiful.  The area is full of friendly, chatty people and Neil the gardener was a pleasure to chat with about the local area, and to have a coffee with in the garden with his dogs.  He shared with us spots for ice-cream and told us a bit about his gardening.  Wondering the forests was magical and finding the small pool to have a dunk in was a great surprise!!!  Even the bath, all the candles, cooking in a lovely kitchen, and watching films upstairs was so relaxing and cosy.  We would love to come back here someday.  Thanks for such an affordable, beautiful, luxurious stay.  p.s. Farmers market in Tavistock and friendly fish and chip shop was great.
