Dartmoor Holiday Cottage
You’ll find a huge pile of logs on the porch. Light the wood-burner in the open-plan living room and settle down with a good book or have a barbecue in the garden, sipping wine while you watch the stars come out.
The guest accommodation at Vixen Tor Farm is comprised of two connected stone bank barns which have been carefully renovated and converted to provide a genuinely gorgeous self catered holiday cottage on Dartmoor.
The cottage sleeps five people, with a king bed on the ground floor of the smaller barn, a small double bed on the mezzanine level above and a sofa bed on the mezzanine in the main barn. All linen and towels are provided.
There is a fully equipped kitchen with a two-ring induction hob, mini oven, microwave, fridge and freezer. If you fancy a barbecue, there’s a grill on the fire pit – perfect for cooking en brochette. You can eat indoors at our dining table or on fine days, at the large picnic table just outside in the garden.
The bathroom has a well powered shower and full sized bath, with a plentiful supply of hot water. Other facilities include a washer/dryer machine and unlimited free wi-fi (although perhaps you will take the opportunity for a digital detox during your stay..).
The barns are kept cosy throughout the year by underfloor heating, and foot thick walls. There is a woodburning stove / log burner which can be used for extra warmth or even some rustic cooking. An unlimited supply of kindling and logs is available during your stay.
See the full list of amenities for more details of what is included at this holiday cottage in Dartmoor, and please contact us if you have any special requirements.
Extra Guests*
If agreed at the time of booking, guests may pitch their own bell tents/teepees etc, so we can accommodate bigger groups for parties and gatherings. Please contact us ahead to confirm the additional price.
* Obviously at the moment, due to covid-19, we are unable to host groups larger than six.
The Garden Room
Set just up from the Barns is our bespoke designed garden room, which guests are welcome to use. With a ping-pong table and large outside deck, it creates additional indoor/outdoor space and is perfect for treatments, games and meditation.
The Bothy
Located a ten minute walk away in the valley by the tumbling River Walkham and the old quarry pond is a bothy. Although not suitable as accommodation, it has a woodburner and is an ideal place for a rest out of the weather whilst out exploring our woodland, which is designated as both a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and part of a European protected site for habitat conservation; a good place for poetry.
