Vixen Tor Farm is comprised of a farmhouse and two connected bank barns which have been renovated to form stunning holiday accommodation. Facing south and protected from Heckwood ridge and foot thick walls, the barns are also kept cosy by underfloor heating. There is also a woodburning stove / log burner which guests are welcome to use for extra warmth or even some rustic cooking.
Sleeping arrangements consist of a king sized bed, small double bed and double sofa bed, so as a holiday let it comfortably sleeps five people. The king bed is on the ground floor of the smaller barn, with the small double on the mezzanine level above – with the sofa bed on the mezzanine in the main Barn.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a two-ring induction hob, mini oven, microwave and fridge freezer. The bathroom has a well powered shower and full sized bath, with a plentiful supply of hot water. Other facilities include a washer/dryer machine and unlimited free wi-fi – although we hope you will take the opportunity for a digital detox during your stay.
The barns can be augmented by up to two luxury yurts in the barn paddock enabling us to host up to twelve people. Our recommended yurt suppliers are local to Sampford Spiney, and create spectacular interiors using sumptuous textiles and furnishings, including quilim carpets. With a large range of sizes available you can hire anything from a luxurious 14 foot yurt through to a 32 foot yurt palace. All come with an impressive range of optional extras and provide flexible space in terms of their use, be it bedroom, dining area, entertainment space etc. Please contact us to request additional information and charges.
Alternatively, if agreed at the time of booking, guests’ friends may pitch their own bell tents/teepees etc, so we can accommodate bigger groups for parties and gatherings. In this event, or if yurts are hired, a luxe bathroom unit and a portable composting loo can be provided as an extra.
The house is also available for rental, in connection with the Barns, please contact the owner as part of your booking.
There is also a bothy sleeping two located in the valley by the tumbling River Walkham and the old quarry pond, for those who are feeling adventurous. It is ten minutes walk into the woods from the barn, and has a woodburner but no washing facilities. A good place for poetry.
