Vixen Tor Farm – the perfect place for a socially distanced holiday
Located in a secluded spot on the edge of Dartmoor, Vixen Tor Farm provides the opportunity for a completely isolated holiday, with little chance of seeing other holiday makers or members of the public should you wish. The hosts live in the property set behind the Barns, and whilst we previously enjoyed welcoming visitors in person, guests can now just self check-in and out.
Coronavirus Booking Guarantee
You can book your holiday at Vixen Tor Farm in complete confidence with our Coronavirus Booking Guarantee, with low deposits, balance payments near the time of your holiday and flexible rebooking if required. Please see our Covid-19 page for terms and further information.
Welcome to Vixen Tor Farm, a spectacular holiday home nestled under the mystical Vixen Tor in the heart of Dartmoor and set in private grounds of around 50 acres. Our beautifully converted Barns provide the perfect base to explore the western edge of Devon, reconnect with nature and an opportunity to simply slow down and switch off.
Tucked away up a mile long private track, you will not hear any traffic noise or see any light pollution, enabling far reaching views in the daytime and breathtaking views of the stars and solar system at night. Our nearest town is Tavistock, an ancient market and stannary town renowned for its range of independent shops and strong sense of community – it was even voted as the the best place to live in Devon by the Sunday Times, in their Best Places to Live in Britain annual guide.
As well as offering holiday accommodation, we can also provide access to elements of activity holidays and blend them with the health benefits of a retreat, for an active, inclusive and replenishing break for all the family. Staying in our stunning location, you can pick from a wide range of therapies, treatments and local activities, to curate your perfect break. Bring your own yoga mat or why not book our alternative health practitioner for a relaxing and rejuvenating massage after a day of mountain biking or hiking across Dartmoor.
Please note that not all of the treatments and additional services will be available due to C-19.
We have put together a team of highly recommended, experienced partners to help you create your own experience. You can combine climbing, hiking, mountain biking and horse riding with yoga, massage and meditation. Or if water sports sounds appealing, why not try sailing, kayaking or surfing during the day with massage and stargazing in the evening. And when the weather closes in, retreat inside our cosy Barn with music, art and crafts.
We can also offer seasonal fly fishing, deer stalking, cider making, sloe gin making, fruit picking and jam making, and connect you to other uniquely local experiences like Tavistock’s Goose Fair, the Dartmoor pony “drift” and the Widecombe Fair to gain deeper insight into our local lifestyle and traditions.
